Flamingo

The Walvisbay lagoon and the Sandwich harbor are recognized under the Ramsar convention as wetlands of International importance. Under the influence of rough seas and strong current, bottom layers laden with nutrition’s well up to the surface, to nourish plankton as it drifts north on ocean currents. Intertidal and sub tidal forms of life that sustain shorebirds are; worms, mollusks, crustaceans and many more creatures. The distribution of these birds are not only scattered throughout Southern, Central, Northern Namibia and the Coast, but can also be found at the lower Orange river, Kaudom Game Park and Tsumkwe.
